March 06, 2015 - Video: Solar Flares are Back, Today's Hot Headlines

Good morning. Above is an updated look at the visible solar disk on Friday. Solar activity during the past 24 hours was moderate. A sunspot located off the southeast limb produced three M-Flares. The largest of these events was an M3 flare at 04:57 UTC. A bright coronal mass ejection (CME) was produced and appears to be directed to the east and away from our planet. Visible spots are now just becoming visible in the latest HMI imagery. We will get a better look as the day progresses. Existing sunspot region 2293 is quiet as it approaches the west limb.
