Multiple earthquakes, not just one, have hit Chile in the town of Illapel. One Chilean resident reports:

I'm Chilean and I live 3 hours from the epicenter (a city called Illapel), and aside from the scared people on the streets (I was downtown heading home from work) nothing else mayor happened, not even a power cut. We're so used to this here that the we have earthquakess resistant structures and the people know what to do, is in our culture now (we learned the hard way in 2010). There's not going to be a Tsunami, just a lot of violent waves in the coast, but the evacuation is part of the normal procedure. The only mayor problems are happening in the epicenter, Illapel, there's one confirmed deceased person for now.

Over the past 7 days (up to May 29, 2015) there have been a series of noteworthy seismic events globally. Two unexpected eruptions on both sides of the Pacific, at Wolf Volcano in Central/South America, and this mornings sudden volcanic eruption at Shindake Volcano in Japan.

Over the past week, multiple dormant volcanoes showed movement across the West coast in California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington state, as well as earthquakes in South America (Chile) near San Pedro Volcano.

A 5.4M (4.8M revised) struck a dormant volcanic butte near Las Vegas Nevada, and this morning a 6.8M struck the shores of Alaska.

THREE different 6.8M + 6.9M earthquakes struck in Papua New Guinea.

A 4.0M + 3.0M earthquake struck England, and a swarm has struck Turkey in Europe.

Good evening. This is the evening edition of the daily alternative news report. Here is an updated look at earthquake activity and the visible solar disk on Saturday, as well as a bunch of links to hot headlines around the world.

Earthquakes

Volcanic and seismic activity are currently on the rise. Multiple 4.0M+ earthquakes across the North American craton, additional earthquake swarm activity occurring at the Oklahoma and Texas fracking operations.

Dormant volcanoes and magma chambers being displaced in North America as well.... near Salton Sea (south california), Mount Saint Helens, also in North Nevada, and at the Arizona / New Mexico border.

Central America needs to be on watch. Vancouver British Columbia , as well as Southern California near Salton Sea... all need to be ready for larger movement in the near term. The vast area being displaced across North America means we should see some noteworthy compensation movement along the edges of the plate boundaries.

West Pacific, be on watch near Japan, and New Zealand. Possibly also include far Western Indonesia as a place to be on guard for large movement.

Europe. Watch North Italy , and the English Channel into South UK.

South America. Watch the area NW of Chile / Peru experiencing the current swarm.

Solar Activity

Solar activity is currently at very low levels. We are now down to three visible numbered regions, although a few other sunspots are now turning into view off the east limb. We will get a better look at them during the next 24 hours. Minor C-Class flares will be possible today, with only a small chance for an isolated M-Class event.

Geomagnetic activity is back to quiet levels today following a period of enhanced activity on Friday. Geomagnetic storming is not in the forecast at this time. Sky watchers should remain alert however as sudden changes within the solar wind could boost activity at any time.

However, there has been a global uptick in earthquake activity and with a large sunspot turning to face earth, it may be good to be prepared.
